The Glastonbury Festival bag dress. Upcycled eco friendly festival fashion. Festival wedding dress. Sustainable clothing, cotton & hemp recycled bags.
You wander away from the crowds and join some strangers round a bonfire….
Ideas: Ultimate festival fashion! This would be an ideal unique and eye-catching dress to wear at Glastonbury Festival or any summer music festival – be prepared to be noticed! If you plan to be married or handfasted at Glastonbury Festival, this would be your perfect wedding dress.
Materials: This dress is made entirely from recycled bags that used to be given out free at the entrance to Glastonbury festival. I’ve collected them over the years and decided to turn some into a dress by patch-working them together. They are mainly 100% cotton, with a couple being hemp and jute. There are various designs and patterns with branding from Glastonbury festival and also the sponsor, Yeo Valley. As usual for my style, some raw edges are part of the design.
The dress slips on and then the corset lacing (made from the bag handles) is tightened to fit. Ruffles adorn the neckline and frills decorate the hem. There’s plenty of fabric for twirling and dancing!
NB: These are bags that I have used at the festival. They have been washed twice, but here and there you might spot faint marks of genuine infamous Glastonbury mud!
Measurements: Bust: 35-43” / 89-109cm. Waist: 27-39” / 68-99cm. Hips free. Length: 46-56” / 117-142cm approx (longer at the back). Measurements vary as the dress is very adjustable. It was made on a mannequin set at UK size 12. The model is size 8, so the lacing on her is as tight as it goes. A size 16-18 has also tried the dress and it fits comfortably too.
